The Category 3 Laboratory formed part of the Hospital’s
ongoing development programme & by late summer
2006, Our Lady's Hospital were searching for a supplier
to help expedite the project.
Solution:
RoanKabin were awarded the design & build contract
for the construction of the new Laboratory, Irelands
first Off-site constructed Category 3 Laboratory.
Build quality (a structural design life in excess
of 60 years), a proven ability to deliver on a short
timeframe & a strong working relationship with
both the client & architect were all important
factors in the appointment of RoanKabin as the contractor.
As main contractor RoanKabin were also responsible
for PSCS & PSDP. This highly specialised building
required full clean room certification as part of
the contract.

Extension of existing hospital heating systems
Partitioning

Floor covering including coved skirting

Project supervision of all contractors

Innovative Solutions:
Ireland’s first off-site constructed modular building
system. The off-site fitout of the Laboratory expedited
the programme time greatly. The off-site construction
of the building also greatly reduced the health &
safety risk:
- Significantly reduces the number of vehicle movements
on site
- Greatly reduced the threat of aspergillious by reducing
the onsite construction elemen
t- Reduced working at height requirements
The 5 month programme timeframe was over 40% faster
than that offered by traditional building methods. Precise
project management by RoanKabin’s experience team
ensured this ambitious target was achieved.
