Client: Castle Park School Location: Dalkey, Co Dublin Project: School Building Size: 2,000 sq metres Project Timeframe: 12 weeks Requirement: In 2004, to underpin the School's vision for the future, Castle Park launched an ambitious investment programme designed to create a world class educational facility. The re-development commenced in June 2007 with an estimated completion date of September 2008, during the construction phase Castle Park were required to relocate the entire school to temporary accommodation.

Solution:

After “a considerable amount of time and effort was spent sourcing a company to provide a range of high quality temporary accommodation” RoanKabin were awarded the contract. RoanKabin provided a two storey 1800sq metre RoanPlan Modular Building to act as the main school building & a 200sq metre RoanPlan
gymnasium.

The new 1,800sq metre purpose-designed RoanPlan Building included 6 Form Rooms, 6 Montessori Rooms, fully equipped kitchen & canteen, male/ female & staff toilets, facilities for music, science, maths, languages, ICT, design and technology; all accessed by secure internal corridors.

The high specification internal finish included suspended ceilings in the corridor, fire & intruder alarms, food safe internal kitchen cladding & extensive ICT resources, including interactive whiteboards as a teaching and learning tool in all teaching rooms.

The 200sq metre RoanPlan Gymnasium compromised male & female changing rooms & a 150sq metre sports hall with a 2,900mm internal ceiling height. The toilet/ changing rooms were equipped toilets, electric showers, bench seating, anti-slip flooring, bright toilet cubicles & vanity units. The main sports hall was finished with Taraflex Sports-flooring, impact resistant plasterboard & protective grills for all diffusers. Despite the tight project timeframe, Castle Park were able to occupy the main building in advance of the 2008 school term as promised.

The overwhelming response from all who attended was very positive about the quality and presentation of the temporary classrooms. This session was very helpful for new and existing pupils to become familiar with their new environment before the start of term.”
